Neal Ardley makes this admission about Notts County's transfer business

Notts County manager Neal Ardley says results will reflect the true value of his work in the transfer market but feels there are “lots of promising signs”.

The Magpies head to Sutton this weekend in what will be their 10th game of the season which has seen them record two wins, four draws and three defeats.

Notts will travel south having lost just once in their last six matches on the back of a busy month in the transfer market which has seen them sign 14 players.

Asked how he would rank the work at Meadow Lane in terms of recruitment, Notts boss  Ardley says only time will tell whether they have got it right.

“I rate the work we have put in to it as 10 out of 10,” he said.

“We’ve worked really, really,  hard.

“But it’s going to be difficult to know how we’ve done until we get through the next few months and see how the results go.

“At the end of the day, all your work is judged by how you win games.

“At the moment there has been lots of promising signs in lots of bits of it.

“We’ve probably had too many draws and there are games we will look back on and say ‘we should have won that, or that’.

“That is something we have got to change.”
