Neal Ardley says he takes great pride in what Notts County have achieved this season as he aims to guide them back to the Football League at the first attempt.
The Magpies are just two wins away from reclaiming their place among the 72-club and face their first obstacle in Barnet at Meadow Lane on Saturday night in the National League play-off semi-final.
The game will be played almost a year to the day when the Reedtz brothers were unveiled as the club's new owners as they rescued the Magpies from financial oblivion.
The club has exceeded all expectation given their purchase of the club from previous owner Alan Hardy was only finalised just a week before the National League campaign was due to start.
But Ardley and his players have done a superb job despite the frantic preparations and now stand two wins away from a remarkable achievement.
Many feel the club has overachieved given all of the problems they encountered last summer and Magpies boss Ardley says he takes great pride in how they have risen to the numerous challenges.
“I am proud of what we have done this season,” he said.
“We’ve made some big strides.
“I feel we are an entertaining team to watch.
“We have recruited well and we have a good group who fight hard for the shirt.
“I can’t control results, but I can only try to control the performance and the mindset of the group to play for the badge.
“We’ve achieved a lot in that respect.
“As you’ve seen before not always the best team wins, that’s the beauty of football.
“I will focus on the performance and see what happens.”
