Neal Ardley hopes Notts County fans continue superb backing even if they don't 'like' him or the players

Neal Ardley says Notts County fans must continue to show their terrific support even if they do not  “like” him and the players.

The Magpies were booed off after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against 10-man Exeter as they were left three points adrift of safety with seven games remaining.

More than 9,000 fans turned out for the clash at Meadow Lane, which was incredible backing for a team currently rooted to the foot of the League Two table and fighting for survival.

And Ardley insisted everyone has to remain united no matter what grievances they may have over how the season has panned out.

“They (the fans) are desperate for it to turn and we have got seven games to go,” he said.

“For the next seven games they have got to get behind us whether they like us or they don’t, or they’re angry with us.

“They have to get behind us because we are the only ones who can sort this out.

Why Notts County boss Neal Ardley won't drop Enzio Boldewijn

“We need everyone together.  While I understand football is an emotional game, results are what matters now.

“We’ve got to keep fighting and they’ve got to keep getting behind us.”
