Neal Ardley has no fears about a lack of integrity ahead of Notts County's date with destiny

Notts County hope Cambridge United will help them seal Football League survival - and boss Neal Ardley has no doubt they will give it their best shot.

The Magpies must beat Swindon and hope Colin Calderwood’s side defeat Macclesfield if they are to avoid relegation on what is shaping up to be a tense last day.

Cambridge’s form going into the clash at Moss Rose has hardly been encouraging with Macclesfield being made hot favourites to get the point they need to send Notts into the National League.

Notts County handed late survival boost as Macclesfield Town's financial turmoil rumbles on

But Ardley has no fears about a lack of integrity ahead of Notts' biggest game in their 157-year history.

“I wouldn’t say I was big mates with Colin, but this league and the integrity of the all the leagues is top drawer,” he said.

“I remember going to Fleetwood with Wimbledon when we won 2-1 on the final day when we stayed up and Graham Alexander was throwing centre-backs forward.

“They had nothing to play for so I looked across the bench and said ‘are you sure?!’

“But that’s the integrity of the league.”
