Neal Ardley hails Notts County defender as a 'man mountain'

Neal Ardley has hailed Notts County defender Damian McCrory as a “man mountain” as he praised the  defender’s recent performances.

McCrory capped off a wonderful display against AFC Fylde at the weekend by scoring the  second goal in a 2-0 win which took them to eighth in the National League table.

It was another excellent performance from the ex-Burton Albion defender who is currently playing centre-back due to an injury to Ben Turner.

He has been a smart piece of business by boss Ardley who recruited the left-back on a free transfer in August after a successful trial in the summer.

And he  was quick to recognise the Notts defender’s brilliance after revealing McCrory had picked up an injury during Saturday’s victory.

“I thought he was our best player at Bromley and Boreham Wood,” said Ardley.

“And I thought he was probably our best player again on Saturday.

“I can’t praise him highly enough. He’s been great at left-back and a man mountain at centre-back.

“He was kicked from pillar to post on Saturday, his knee was sore, but he battled on.

“It was hurting him to change direction but there was no way he was coming off.”
