Neal Ardley gets his wish as Notts County land home draw in FA Trophy quarter final

Notts County have been handed a home tie in the FA Trophy quarter final and will face Aveley  later this month.

Neal Ardley’s side are due host  the part-time outfit at Meadow Lane on February 29  although there is some suggestion the  game  could be moved because the women’s Continental Cup final is being held at the City Ground.

Aveley, who play in the   BetVictor Isthmian League North Division, are the lowest ranked team left in the competition making Notts huge favourites to seal their passage to the semi-finals which are played over two legs.

But James Webster’s team have proven no mugs in the competition and booked their place in the last eight having  secured a shock 3-1 win over National League South side Chelmsford City at the weekend.

Notts will be the first National League Premier side they have faced thus far , however, and speaking after their win over Yeovil on Saturday, Ardley said he would respect which team the Magpies were paired with.

Notts’ involvement in the Trophy means their scheduled league clash against Aldershot, which was due to be played on Sunday March 1, will have to be rearranged.
