Neal Ardley frustrated after admitting Notts County dropped two points at Dover

Neal Ardley felt his Notts County side dropped two points after they were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at Dover Athletic.

A last-gasp header from substitute Kristian Dennis rescued a point for the Magpies who had fallen behind in the first half to Bobby-Joe Taylor’s fabulous free-kick.

But Mitch Rose’ penalty made it 1-1 before the break before Dover, without a home win in five games, put themselves back in front through captain Kevin Lokko.

Notts, who squandered some decent chances, then had to rely on Dennis to save them from defeat when he headed in Rose’s cross.

And reflecting on the game, Magpies boss Ardley said he felt that his side could have won given the chances they created.

“When you look back at the chances for both teams you might say a draw was a fair result,” he said.

“I am frustrated because I felt we controlled large spells and got into some great areas.

“We worked our way through the pitch through some of the patterns we like to use.

“They got in behind us a few times, but I suppose when you are 2-1 down with 10 minutes to go, you are happy with the point.

“But I feel like it is two dropped. I am disappointed with their second goal because we had got away with one right on half-time.

“We reminded the players of what to do at half-time, but they float a ball in and they score.

“We are really disappointed with that.”
