Neal Ardley explains why Notts County are not 'strutting around like Brazil'

Neal Ardley insists Notts County are “not strutting around like Brazil” after securing back to back victories but hopes it gives his side plenty of belief.

The Magpies head to Dover this weekend looking to make it three wins on the spin which could take them into the top seven for the first time this season.

After winning three out of their last four games, there is a feeling around Meadow Lane that Notts are just beginning to find some momentum.

Magpies boss Ardley says recent results should give his side plenty of confidence to continue their upward trajectory, after admitting last season’s team often feared losing games as they were relegated from the Football League.

“We are not strutting around like we are Brazil because we know we are not,” he said.

“The boys have worked hard and we put them through good leg work on Tuesday.

“The spirit is good and what I hope it brings is that we go into games believing we are going to win rather than get anxious that we might not.

“I’ve often said that belief you are going to win comes from winning games, not from the manager telling them they are good enough to win games.

“Belief comes from knowing you can do it and through repetition.

“Last season when we were relegated, players were probably going into games fearing they would lose them and that happened too often.”
