Neal Ardley convinced Notts County are 'on the cusp' of National League charge

Neal Ardley is convinced his Notts County side are on the cusp of driving up the National League table and says their performances will continue to get better.

The Magpies drew their fifth game of the season at Sutton United on Saturday as they came from a goal down to snatch a point having dominated the second half.

Sutton goalkeeper Jamie Butler stood in their way of a victory as he made two incredible saves to deny Regan Booty and Kristian Dennis.

Notts manager Ardley, who admitted to having a few choice words at the interval,  was frustrated his side could not turn their second-half superiority into further goals having created excellent opportunities.

But he remains adamant his side have improved immensely from the opening week of the season but need to start turning draws into wins.

“I know there will be doom and gloom again because we haven’t won,” he said.

“But we have got to keep believing that, if we play as we did for 70 minutes after a poor start on Saturday, and with the players we have, then it will turn.

“The performances over the last three or four weeks compared to the first week of the season have been miles better.

“We have threats and we do have goals in us.”
