Neal Ardley considering loan moves to help bolster Notts County promotion push

Notts County boss Neal Ardley may turn to the loan market to bolster their promotion chase after suffering further injury setbacks.

Centre-back Ben Turner is set to be ruled out until April because of a problem with his calf while left-back Zoumana Bakayogo’s has experienced a similar injury and will be out for six weeks.

With midfielder Regan Booty out for the forseeable future due to a back problem and goalkeeper Sam Slocombe also out for six to eight weeks, Notts’ squad is becoming stretched at a key time in the season.

Asked whether the transfer market could be a possibility to compensate for those losses, Notts boss Ardley said: “It could be.

“I  am sure the owners would be very supportive as they always have been.

“We’ve let one or two go out and recouped some money for them.

“I am sure it’s a possibility, but if we are going to bring people in  sometimes clubs will only let them come if they are playing or in the squad.

“When we  get Michael Doyle and Damian McCrory back we will have a better squad.

“We need to assess it. Like we did with Callum Roberts and Joe McDonnell, we are doing our homework and making sure we have lists.

“Should that moment arise then we will act quickly.”
