Ndombele and Lo Celso back, Mourinho's striker decision: Predicted Spurs lineups vs RB Leipzig

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Champions League action this week as they take on German side Red Bull Leipzig at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Spurs will be going into the game high in confidence after a late win against Aston Villa in the Premier League in their last outing.

However, the club have been dealt a significant injury blow ahead of the match, with Spurs confirming that forward Son Heung-min is to undergo surgery on a fractured arm, meaning that he will be out of action for 'a number of weeks'.

With Harry Kane out of action and the transfer window being closed, it leaves Spurs with no recognised fit striker in the squad, meaning that Jose Mourinho will either have to rely on young academy players such as Troy Parrott or play without a recognised striker.

So, how will Jose Mourinho deal with the lack of striking options for the Champions League round of 16 first-leg? And what other decision will the Tottenham boss make when naming his starting lineup?

Here is the football.london reporters' team for the match.

Alasdair Gold - Tottenham correspondent

Jose Mourinho has already said he will have to rotate this week with some players even if he can't do it in certain positions.

The injury to Son Heung-min is of course a massive blow and restricts the Spurs head coach's options up front.

However, there are decisions to be made in midfield, particularly whether Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele will start.

Erik Lamela is back and expected to be able to play some part in the game.

In defence there will be questions over whether Ben Davies can manage two games within quick succession after more than two months out.

Any hopes of Troy Parrott being involved may well have been dashed by the absence of the teenager from Tottenham's training session on Tuesday.

Here is the team I would go with:

Gold's XI : (4-3-3): Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga; Lo Celso, Winks, Ndombele; Bergwijn, Lucas, Alli

Amie Wilson - Live writer

Son Heung-min's injury has caused a headache for Jose Mourinho around his striking options, especially with Harry Kane still on his way back from injury.

In defence, with Ben Davies only just back from injury, Mourinho may decide to give the Welshman a break and return to Japhet Tanganga.

In midfield, Gedson Fernandes could come in and make just his second start for Tottenham after playing in the first game of the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Southampton. Tanguy Ndombele could also be bought back into the starting lineup alongside Giovani Lo Celso.

With the lack of striking options, and Mourinho's unwillingness to throw Troy Parrott in, Lucas may be trusted to play a more unfamiliar central role while January signing Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela, himself returning from injury, will provide support from wider areas.

Wilson's XI (4-3-3): Lloris; Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Tanganga; Ndombele, Fernandes, Lo Celso; Bergwijn, Lucas, Lamela
