Ncuti Gatwa Speculates On Mrs. Flood's Mysterious Origins In Doctor Who

Doctor Who

Fifteenth Doctor actor Ncuti Gatwa has shared his own theory regarding the enigmatic character Mrs. Flood, portrayed by Anita Dobson, ahead of the upcoming Doctor Who season 14. Gatwa, who recently assumed the role of the latest Time Lord incarnation, made his debut in the third 60th-anniversary special 'The Giggle' and subsequently met Millie Gibson's companion Ruby Sunday in the 2023 seasonal special 'The Church on Ruby Road.'

In a recent interview with Doctor Who Magazine, Gatwa expressed his curiosity about Mrs. Flood's potential origins, suggesting that she might have been a former companion of the Doctor. Another speculation is that Mrs. Flood could be a future version of Ruby who traveled back in time to influence her own past. The character of Mrs. Flood remains shrouded in mystery, having only appeared briefly in 'The Church on Ruby Road' and leaving audiences intrigued with her cryptic interactions with the Doctor and Ruby.

With Anita Dobson confirmed as a recurring character in Gatwa's era, it is evident that Mrs. Flood will play a significant role in the upcoming Doctor Who episodes. The possibility of Mrs. Flood being a regenerated Susan or a future version of Ruby adds layers to the ongoing narrative, hinting at a complex storyline that may unfold over multiple seasons.

The return of showrunner Russell T Davies has set the stage for various plotlines, including TARDIS mysteries, new adversaries, and expansions of UNIT. Mrs. Flood's mysterious identity is poised to be a central element in the narrative, potentially revealing crucial insights into the Time Lord's secrets. Audiences can anticipate a gradual unraveling of Mrs. Flood's backstory, with her knowledge of the Doctor's world likely to be a focal point in future episodes.

Doctor Who season 14 is set to premiere with a two-episode special on May 11, available on Disney+ for international viewers and BBC iPlayer for UK audiences. The broadcast on BBC One will follow at a later date, offering fans an immersive journey into the captivating world of the Doctor and his companions.
