NCT reveals when bus timetables in Nottingham will return to normal

Nottingham City Transport has revealed when bus timetables will return to normal.

NCT says since the Government introduced its stringent lockdown measures on March 23, the use of buses in the city dropped by 90%, leading to regular bus services being cut down.

The company's pre-lockdown timetable is set to resume from Sunday, June 28, it has now confirmed.

More services will run on every day of the week, allowing for significantly more capacity for those wishing to travel.

The normal timetable applies to all NCT services, excluding the NightBus routes, which remain suspended and the Uni 4 and Uni 31 buses, which do not operate outside of traditional university term time.

Uni 34 for the University of Nottingham will operate to its holiday timetable.

Changes to Blue Line 40 and Yellow Line 70, which should have been introduced at the end of March, will also be introduced.

The 40 will serve Winwood Heights and Edwards Lane Estate and the 70 will serve Norwich Gardens and Sandhurst Road.

To make sure buses are covid safe, employees are being provided with access to wipes, gloves, face coverings and hand sanitiser as well as regular guidance about the expectations and requirements of them whilst at work.

On the buses, some seats have been closed off for social distancing and customers are encouraged to use window seats only and sit a row away from people they do not live with, where possible.

From June 15, all passengers must also wear a face covering, a mandatory rule being enforced by the Government.

An NCT spokesman added: "NCT has consulted with its recognised Unite the Union representatives. All Nottingham City Transport staff are being issued with updated guidance to enable them to keep safe in the work environment.

"You can also make use of NCT’s recently launched online Capacity Checker to see how quiet or busy their bus may be. This enables you to plan ahead and avoid travelling at busy times.

"NCT services 1, 26 and 49 will continue to operate as exact fare only like all other NCT services, with no change available from the driver."
