NCSC asks Maharashtra chief secretary, other top officers to appear in March hearing in Sameer Wankhede's plea

MUMBAI: National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has written to Maharashtra chief secretary (CS), director general of police (DGP), Maharashtra, principal secretary, home department, Mumbai District Collector, and Mumbai police commissioner as well as Director General of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI), Pune, to appear on March 7 in its next hearing before NCSC vice-chairman Arun Haldar, with "up-to-date action taken report" and all the relevant documents in connection with its recommendations to register an FIR on Sameer Wankhede’s complaint over alleged “harassment” by minister Nawab Malik.

The letter written on February 11 by Kaushal Kumar, director of NCSC addressed also to the Collector Mumbai said he is directed to forward minutes of the meeting the commission held on January 31 on a representation made by former Zonal Director of NCB, Sameer Wankhede to take necessary action and the next hearing date is March 7.

"Accordingly you are requested to make it convenient to appear in the hearing before the vice chairman", in New Delhi with the documents to facilitate the hearing, the letter read.
