Scottish actor David McCallum obviously takes his role as a navy medical examiner investigating crimes in US drama NCIS seriously. He told the Times that he got into the mindset of his character by getting involved with some real dead bodies. "I've actually performed four autopsies," he said. "You can't talk about aortic stenosis unless you know what it is and what a failed heart valve looks like." Thanks goodness his role wasn't a serial killer.
