A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has taken over the investigation into the cruise drugs case allegedly involving Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.

All the documents related to the case have been handed over to the SIT, which is supervised by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director-General of the NCB headquarters in Delhi.

“A SIT comprising officers from the Operations Branch of the NCB headquarters has been constituted by the NCB Director-General to take over six cases from the NCB Mumbai zonal unit, which have national and international ramifications...,” Mr. Singh had said on Friday.

Mr. Singh had said the decision was taken to conduct deeper investigation to find out the forward and backward linkages in these cases.

The move came amid various charges levelled against NCB Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, who was earlier supervising the investigation in the cruise drugs case, by Maharashtra Government Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik and others.

Mr. Wankhede, who continues to be the NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Director, had dismissed all the allegations against him and termed it “baseless”.
