NCAAB to move three-point line back

On Wednesday, it was announced that for the upcoming 2019-2020 season and beyond, the college basketball three-point line will be painted slightly farther back than it has been in previous years.

In previous seasons, the college basketball three-point line has been set up 20 feet and 9 inches away from the basket. Now, under the new rules, it will be set up 22 feet and 1 and 3/4 inches away.

An interesting note about the new distance is that it exactly matches the distance at which three-point lines are set up in European leagues, but is still slightly shorter than the 23.75 feet in the NBA.

For Tom Crean’s Dawgs, this rule change will have a significant affect, as we saw last season how heavily his system relies on three-point shots falling in order to be successful, and how quickly things can backfire if the team is having a cold shooting day.
