NCAA makes decision on former Georgia TE’s pending eligibility waiver

The NCAA has come to a decision on former Georgia tight end Luke Ford’s pending waiver just one day after denying eligibility to Virginia Tech’s Brock Hoffman.

Unfortunately, Ford’s waiver got denied just like Hoffman’s and it looks the two will not be able to play football at the collegiate level for the 2019 season.

However, both players can appeal their denials in a last-ditch effort to gain eligibility. What is quite surprising is that the NCAA recently granted waivers to quarterbacks Justin Fields and Tate Martell.

The recent waiver denials tend to give off the impression that the NCAA is only allowing its ‘big name’ players to gain eligibility and not the ones with more legitimate reasons like Ford and Hoffman, who wanted to move closer to home to be with their sick family members.

This is absolutely ridiculous and leaves a gaping hole in the NCAA’s current criteria for qualifying to become eligible. Shame on you NCAA.

As the MLB would say, ‘let the kids play’ and do better.
