NCAA looking at November start date for men’s college basketball

According to a report by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, which was corroborated in a report by Dana O’Neil of The Athletic, the college basketball season might not get the same lengthy delay that happened to Big Ten Football and other conferences. According to Rothstein, the NCAA men’s basketball oversight committee is looking at two dates to start the season: November 25th and December 4th.

O’Neil pointed out in her report that the reason for this start date will be to capitalize on the fact that most college campuses will be emptied after Thanksgiving, which Rothstein called the “Golden Window.” Many schools are choosing to end the semester early, just before Thanksgiving, and then have the students return for the spring semester in January.

This should certainly be exciting news to both Michigan State and Big Ten fans, who will be going without football this fall.
