NBS aims to benefit from takeover in link-up with sister company

Newcastle construction technology firm NBS is targetting growth by working more closely with another part of the larger group it joined in a takeover last year.

NBS plans to to work with Glenigan, a leading provider of construction sales leads and analysis, after both firms were acquired by the Swedish Byggfakta Group at the end of last year.

The company, which is based at the old Post Office in Newcastle city centre, says that working with its new sister company will bring added benefits to their combined 6,000 customers.

NBS, which was initially the commercial arm of architectural professional body RIBA, provides technology for architects and construction companies that aims to improve the construction process and reduce risk in the industry.

It was sold to Swedish data and software provider Byggfakta Group last December in a deal backed by private equity firms Stirling Square Capital Partners and TA Associates. At the time, the company said it hoped the sale would accelerate its growth following its own acquisition of firms in Canada and Australia to expand its global footprint.

Colin Smith, executive chairman of NBS, said: “This partnership represents a milestone for NBS, Glenigan and the wider Byggfakta Group. It’s a new bond between our businesses which will give manufacturers even greater exposure to construction projects.

“From early-phase design and specification, through to planning and into construction, our clients can gain access to insight at all stages in the timeline. This will also offer manufacturers improved forecasting to support with demand planning.”

He added: “Our initial focus will be on developing our joint offering to manufacturers. We’ll be demonstrating how to harness Glenigan’s accurate project lead insight data, together with the NBS specification and product information, to help manufacturers drive sales and identify nascent business opportunities.”

Victoria McEwen, Glenigan’s chief executive officer, said: “This collaboration marks an exciting time for both companies, mutually strengthening our platforms and improving customer experience across the board.

“The quality of our sales lead data is second to none, and it’s an area we pride ourselves in. For our own userbase, it will be great to take advantage of NBS’ extensive ability to reach specifiers, giving them an additional level of insight, they previously didn’t have access to.”
