NBC News executive fired amid harassment allegations

A veteran NBC News executive has been fired amid allegations that he engaged in inappropriate conduct with at least one woman at the network, a spokesperson confirmed.

Matt Zimmerman, vice president of booking, news and entertainment, was booted from the network Tuesday afternoon.

"We have recently learned that Matt Zimmerman engaged in inappropriate conduct with more than one woman," an NBC spokesperson said in a statement to the Daily News. "As a result he has been dismissed."

Zimmerman could not be reached for comment and his Twitter account appeared down Tuesday afternoon.

Zimmerman was hired by NBC in 2004, according to his LinkedIn profile. Since 2014, Zimmerman has been in charge of guest bookings on the "Today" show and other network shows.

News of the firing comes just weeks after NBC dismissed political contributor Mark Halperin amid allegations that he sexually harassed several women while at ABC News. A wave of sexual harassment allegations have recently been lobbed against celebrities, politicians and news personalities, starting with the shocking claims against disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein last month.
