NBA Twitter reacts to Klay Thompson’s 17 point performance in return vs. Cavs

After a pair of injuries and an extensive rehab, Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return to the court for the Golden State Warriors after missing over two seasons.

Following a loud introduction from a frenzied crowd at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Thompson didn’t waste time getting right to work. On Golden State’s first possession, Thompson drove straight to the bucket for his first points since game six of the 2019 NBA Finals.

After getting his first shot out of the way, Thompson quickly reminded everyone of the same five-time All-Star player he was before his injuries.
During his season debut, Thompson let it fly from deep and even threw down a highlight-reel dunk over a Cavaliers defender. Anytime Thompson touched the ball; Chase Center began to shake with applause.

Thompson finished his emotional night with 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field in 20 minutes. Thompson buried three triples on eight attempts from long-distance. The 31-year-old added three boards, an assist and a block against the Cavaliers.

Steph Curry added a game-high 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the floor to help seal a victory against the Cavaliers in Thompson’s return to the court.

Following Thompson’s 17 point performance in his season debut, NBA Twitter exploded with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Twitter on Sunday night.
