The NBA clearly doesn’t believe their message to players about the updated health and safety protocols prohibiting hugs and handshakes after games have gotten through to the rank and file. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that a memo had been sent out from the league to its teams telling them that there will be team security stationed at half court to prevent players from socializing after games have finished.
The NBA sent out updated protocols to teams last week that alerted them of not allowing them to hug and shake hands after games, as well as no longer allowing non-team guests to hotels when teams are traveling.
LeBron James has stated before he doesn’t see much of a difference between the NBA protocols and the ones he is already adhered to as a resident of Los Angeles County. However, there are plenty of other players questioning whether the added rules are a signal that these games shouldn’t be happening.
On Wednesday, the NBA postponed their 16th game of the season as the Memphis Grizzlies did not have enough players available to play against the Portland Trail Blazers due to contact tracing.
