The NBA has convened in Las Vegas for an already eventful Summer League. As if the league needed any help stirring offseason intrigue and drama, mother nature has lent a hand in the early stages of this summer. A series of earthquakes have shaken up proceedings a bit in Nevada, but the show will go on with two Western Conference foes meeting on Monday night. Both the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers have been busy this offseason and will now get a look at many of their players and the potential depth they’ll bring this upcoming season.

It’s been an extremely up-and-down few weeks for the Golden State Warriors. Their string of three NBA titles in four years was snapped by Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors. Just a few weeks after tasting defeat, star forward Kevin Durant announced he was signing with the Brooklyn Nets. It hasn’t been all bad though. The team re-signed Klay Thompson and acquired point guard D’Angelo Russell. Two of the Warriors’ 2019 draft picks will be in action in Vegas. Jordan Poole (28th overall) and Eric Paschall (41st overall) will look to get off on the right foot.
The Lakers didn’t land Kawhi, but their outlook for the future looks bright. They responded to the Clippers picking up their main free agency target by signing DeMarcus Cousins and Danny Green, two players who played big roles in the NBA finals. Once their heavily rumored trade for Anthony Davis is finalized, the Lakers will once again be a true threat. Despite being 0-2 so far in Vegas, two-way signee Zach Norvel is the clear top performer. These players are all vying for the last few roster spots on what could be a resurgent season for one of the league’s most historic franchises.
