The 2025 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas is now underway, and basketball fans across the globe are turning their attention to the next generation of talent. From highly anticipated debuts to emerging stars, this year's competition promises to shape the league's future. Headlining the event are top NBA draft picks Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, both looking to make an immediate impression.

Cooper Flagg Makes Long-Awaited Mavericks Debut

Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks, is set to make his Summer League debut on 10 July against Bronny James and the Lakers, a matchup driving ticket prices up to £1843 ($2,500) courtside. The 6-foot-9 Duke forward is viewed as a generational defensive talent and has reportedly improved his shooting range this summer. Flagg signed a projected four-year deal worth over £46 million ($62.7 million) and will next face Dylan Harper's Spurs on 12 July in a nationally televised showdown already billed as the 'battle of the future'.

Dylan Harper Set for Spurs Debut

The San Antonio Spurs, picking second in this year's draft, selected Dylan Harper, a playmaking guard out of Rutgers. Though a minor groin strain delayed his debut, Harper is now expected to suit up against Dallas on 12 July in one of the most anticipated games of the Summer League.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Harper brings elite vision, positional size, and finishing ability to the Spurs' backcourt. During his official introduction, he expressed enthusiasm for joining a storied franchise and spoke highly of the Spurs culture. Harper was unveiled alongside fellow rookie Carter Bryant, with whom he is expected to form a foundational pairing.

The Spurs have also made moves to support Harper's development, recently signing veteran guard Jordan McLaughlin to mentor the rookie through his transition.

Other Rising Stars in NBA Summer League 2025

While Flagg and Harper dominate headlines, the Summer League features several other standout prospects. According to the NBA, the '15 players to watch' list in Las Vegas includes rookies such as Ace Bailey, Walter Clayton Jr. and VJ Edgecombe, highlighting Edgecombe's 28‑point debut in Salt Lake City.

  • Bronny James (Lakers): Continues to draw media attention following a strong showing at the California Classic.
  • Ace Bailey (Jazz): Projected as a top‑five pick, noted for his elite scoring and defensive upside.
  • Kon Knueppel (Hornets): One of the class's most accurate shooters.
  • Derik Queen, DaRon Holmes II, Walter Clayton Jr.: Named by NBA as standout talents with breakout potential in Vegas

These names represent the depth of the 2025 rookie class, with several expected to secure full NBA contracts by the end of the tournament.
