April 10--1. Stephen Curry -- Point guard -- Warriors
His statistics of a league-best 29.9 points per game along with 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds are gaudy enough. But Curry's true worth comes from his otherworldly range and shooting ability, which makes everyone around him better. That he leads the league in steals almost seems unfair. It's no accident the Warriors are chasing the Bulls' single-season record for victories.
2. Russell Westbrook -- Point guard -- Thunder
In any other season in which Curry and the Warriors aren't doing their things, Westbrook might win. His 17 triple-doubles are the most in the NBA in 25 years. And his ferocious placing of constant pressure on the defense is the perfect complement to Kevin Durant's scoring ability. Westbrook plays with an offensive fury that's hard to quantify. But it leads to victories.
3. LeBron James -- Small forward -- Cavaliers
With apologies to Durant and the Spurs' Kawhi Leonard, it would be hard to leave the game's all-around best player (still) completely off the ballot. James' 3-point percentage has dropped but he remains a 50 percent shooter overall. And his ability to affect games at both ends, particularly at crunch time, keeps him among the game's elite
