NBA icon Patrick Ewing home and 'getting better' after coronavirus diagnosis

Former Knicks great Patrick Ewing has been released from the hospital after testing positive for coronavirus, his son said Monday.

"My father is now home and getting better," Patrick Ewing Jr. tweeted. "We'll continue to watch his symptoms and follow the CDC guidelines. I hope everyone continues to stay safe and protect yourselves and your loved ones."

Ewing, who currently coaches the Georgetown University men's basketball team, announced Friday that he had tested positive.

"Now more than ever, I want to thank healthcare workers and everyone on the front lines," the 57-year-old Hall of Famer said in a statement. "I'll be fine and we will all get through this."

Ewing Jr. also expressed gratitude for the hospital staff who worked with his father "as well as everyone who has reached out with thoughts and prayers to us ... since his diagnosis."

Georgetown said Ewing is the only person affiliated with the basketball team to test positive so far.
