Oct. 06--Former NBA star and front office executive Chris Mullin, who in April was named the head coach of the St. John's University Red Storm, has sold his home in Danville, Calif., for $2.59 million.
Built in 1995 and since updated, the Mediterranean-style home in a gated community backs an open space reserve with wide views of the surrounding hillside.
A four-bedroom main house, a one-bedroom guest/pool house, a basketball court and a swimming pool make up the half-acre grounds.
Approximately 5,500 square feet of space is entered through a chandelier-topped foyer that opens to a step-down living room and an adjacent dining room. Coved ceilings, hardwood floors and detailed molding are among the interior touches.
Other public areas include a center-island kitchen, two family rooms and a recreation room. The master suite sports a sitting room, an office and a two-way fireplace. There are four fireplaces in all.
Mullin, 52, starred at St. John's in the 1980s, winning the Big East Player of the Year award three times. The small forward was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 1985 NBA draft and played 16 seasons for the Warriors and the Indiana Pacers, making five all-star teams.
A two-time Olympic gold medalist, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2011.
Listed for sale in August for $2.6 million, the house went under contract in about 10 days, according to the Multiple Listing Service. Mullin bought the house in 2001 for $2.78 million, records show.
