NBA free agency news: Jrue Holiday to Milwaukee, Covington to Portland

The NBA hot stove is reaching higher temperature levels seemingly every minute but as the temperatures rise, big names around the NBA are coming off the board in terms of players who are likely to move teams and potentially impact the race for the 2021 NBA title. The Lakers already made a big move before everyone else, getting Dennis Schröder for the very palatable price of Danny Green and the 28th pick in the first round of Wednesday’s draft.

Then on Monday night, the Portland Trail Blazers, who played the Lakers in the first round of last seasons’s playoffs and made the Western Conference Finals the year before, acquired Rockets do-it-all forward Robert Covington.

The Bucks are giving up three first-round picks for Holiday.

The Lakers made one of the biggest moves since the moratorium was lifted. The Suns, of course, stole the show with their deal for Chris Paul but Monday was only the first in seven days of NBA action that will feel like a whirlwind.
