NBA fans think Zion Williamson chose the Hawks as his preferred NBA Draft destination

Zion Williamson was in Chicago for Tuesday’s NBA Draft lottery as the entire basketball world anxiously awaited word of where the Duke star would start his career.

But leave it to Zion himself to signal his preferred team to the viewing public before the lottery even started. At least, that was what NBA fans thought had happened.

As the ESPN broadcast showed Williamson walk on the podium, he smiled and then approached the Atlanta Hawks’ seat. Williamson gave the Hawks logo a playful, enthusiastic double-tap and then proceeded to walk off stage. The Hawks were the only team to get that kind of reaction from Zion.

You best believe that NBA Twitter took notice.

We can’t blame Zion for favoring the Hawks either. Williamson’s high school was around 200 miles from Atlanta. And the prospect of playing alongside Trae Young, John Collins and Kevin Huerter has to sound appealing.
