NBA fans roasted FS1’s Chris Broussard for his absurd Chris Paul-Ben Simmons trade

Both the Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets saw their seasons come to an end over the weekend. And as tends to happen after disappointing playoff losses, fans and pundits look for ways to improve rosters immediately. It’s how that works.

Much of that discussion includes the good-ole hypothetical trades.

But you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more ridiculous (and unlikely) trade scenario than what Fox Sports’ Chris Broussard recommended during a Monday appearance on The Herd.

Broussard wanted Rockets general manager Daryl Morey to pick up the phone, call the Sixers and offer Chris Paul for Ben Simmons. He said this without irony — on television.

Unless Morey finds himself looking to be laughed at and hung up on, there’s zero chance he’d make that call. There’s zero chance Sixers general manager Elton Brand would even entertain that call. Simmons is a 22-year-old All-Star who is developing into one of the NBA’s most versatile players — and he can’t even shoot yet!

Paul is 34 years old and coming off career lows in scoring and efficiency. And that’s not even accounting for the economics of such a deal. The fact that Broussard even suggested such a laughable trade opened himself up to plenty of ridicule from NBA Twitter.
