NBA fans immediately roasted the Knicks after Kevin Durant chose to sign with the Nets

Knicks fans won’t have to travel far to see Kevin Durant play. It’s just a train ride away.

Though Durant plans to make it official on Sunday evening, the two-time NBA Finals MVP is set to move on from Golden State and sign with the Brooklyn Nets.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted Sunday that the decision — though not confirmed by Durant’s camp — would be for the Nets and come on The Board Room Instagram. And as you probably noticed, the Brooklyn Nets are decidedly not the New York Knicks.

In fact, it doesn’t look like the Knicks are going to land any of the marquee free agents as Wojnarowski went on to report that Durant will be joined in Brooklyn by Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

This was obviously a worst-case scenario for Knicks fans who had hoped for Durant to jump at the opportunity to play in New York — he sort of did, just not for Jim Dolan. The dream of Zion Williamson, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving with the Knicks was met with the reality of R.J. Barrett and a bunch of … uh … emptiness.

Other NBA fans, though, took pleasure in seeing the Knicks almost certainly headed back to the lottery.

This would only happen to the Knicks.
