NBA execs see Carmelo Anthony likely landing with Lakers

LeBron James has been subtly pushing for his friend Carmelo Anthony to join him with the Los Angeles Lakers for the better part of a year. But with last year’s Lakers season taking a disastrous turn after the Christmas Day injury to LeBron, it appears that the two parties are circling back to each other.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, most of the NBA’s decision-makers believe that Carmelo is destined to join LeBron James as a member of the Lakers next season.

Let’s get this out of the way at the top: things can always change, but most executives monitoring Anthony’s free agency see the Lakers as the most likely destination for the 10-time All Star.

Once the Lakers looked like they wouldn’t be a playoff team, the noise about the 10-time All-Star joining his pal LeBron with the Lakers finally quieted down. But now with Anthony Davis in tow alongside LeBron and Kyle Kuzma, Anthony’s interest has likely been re-ignited.

As for the reasons the Lakers would do it, it would give them more depth at forward while and also give them the opportunity to add talent at a low cost.

Meanwhile, Anthony is trying to finish his career on a high-note after having tough seasons in New York, Oklahoma City and Houston to finish his career.
