NBA Dunk Contest: What time does the dunk contest start?

The best basketball players in the world have gathered in Chicago for NBA All-Star weekend, and the league’s sharpshooters and dunkers will take center stage at the United Center on Saturday night. Zion Williamson isn’t in the Dunk Contest lineup, sadly, but Dwight Howard returns to try to win his first Dunk Contest since 2008.

NBA All-Star Saturday Night will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET on TNT, and will include three events – the Taco Bell skills challenge, the MTN Dew 3-point contest, and the AT&T Slam Dunk.

The dunk contest will be the last event of the night, and you can expect it to start after 9:00 p.m. ET.

Who is participating in each event?

Dunk contest participants: Dwight Howard, Pat Connaughton, Derrick Jones Jr., Aaron Gordon

3-point contest participants: Davis Bertans, Devin Booker, Devonte’ Graham, Joe Harris, Buddy Hield, Zach LaVine, Duncan Robinson, Trae Young

Skills challenge participants: Bam Adebayo, Patrick Beverley, Spencer Dinwiddie, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Khris Middleton, Domantas Sabonis, Pascal Siakam, Jayson Tatum

Dunk contest rules:

Via the NBA:

In the two-round event, participants can perform any dunk they choose.  The players have a maximum of three attempts to complete each dunk in both the first round and the final round.  Five judges score every dunk on a scale of 6 to 10, resulting in a high score of 50 and a low score of 30.  The judges will be announced at a later date.

All four competitors get two dunks in the first round.  The two players with the highest combined score for their two dunks advance to the head-to-head final round.  Both players get two dunks in the final round.  The player with the highest combined score for his two dunks in the final round is crowned the 2020 AT&T Slam Dunk champion.”
