NBA Draft: LSU’s Skylar Mays recently visited with the Thunder

LSU junior Skylar Mays has worked out with a handful of teams ahead of the 2019 NBA Draft, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, he told The Advocate.

As an underclassman, Mays has until May 29 to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft to maintain his collegiate eligibility. He intends to wait until closer to the deadline to make a decision on his future.

In 35 games last season, Mays averaged a career-high 13.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He shot 42.1 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three-point range.

Mays is an athletic player that can play at both guard positions. He has demonstrated to have a high IQ of the game and possesses great athleticism at his position.

The 6-foot-4 guard is currently not projected to be selected in any major mock draft. Many believe Mays would benefit by returning to LSU for one more season.

Mays helped the Tigers advance to the Sweet 16 and his return to school could allow the school to have another deep run in the tournament next season.

If Mays opts to remain in the NBA Draft, he’ll likely be a candidate to play for a team during the Summer League so there could be a strong chance that he eventually returns to school.
