NBA Draft 2019: Tracking trades on draft day

T.J. Warren

With the 2019 NBA Draft finally here, teams have their last chance to pull the trigger on deals involving picks before they happen. It always creates some excitement throughout the proceedings, whether it’s a team moving up to take a top prospect or a veteran star finally sent packing.

Two of the biggest trades for this offseason already happened recently. The Anthony Davis saga in New Orleans finally reached its natural conclusion with the Lakers acquiring the All-Star big man for a huge haul. The Grizzlies also moved on from Mike Conley, sending the guard to the Jazz in a bid to boost their rebuild.

Both of those trades impacted the 2019 draft in big ways. The Davis deal sent the No. 4 overall pick to New Orleans, which now has two of the top four selections. Pelicans GM David Griffin stands in a strong position entering Thursday evening.

The Conley deal, meanwhile, cemented Ja Morant as the No. 2 overall pick and sent the No. 23 overall pick to Memphis.

There will be more trades on the way Thursday, so here’s a rundown of them as they’re reported.
