The NBA announced its first two positive tests of coronavirus among the 322 players who were tested at the Disney World Campus since arriving there on July 7. While testing positive is concerning, according to the league, the players who tested positive never left their quarantines upon arrival. Furthermore, those players have since left the campus and are either isolating at home or at a separate hotel the NBA has chosen for quarantine housing.
The NBA’s coronavirus rules stipulate that a player must register two negative tests to be able to leave their quarantines, which started upon arrival to their respective hotels. The NBA did not identify the two players who tested positive. The league also announced that a total of 19 players had yet to leave their home markets because they had tested positive.
Earlier on Monday, Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook tweeted that he was one of those 19, but feeling good and recovering while in self-quarantine. Both Westbrook and his teammate, 2018 MVP James Harden, have yet to arrive at the NBA’s Disney World campus.
Also, according to Yahoo’s Chris Haynes, the Denver Nuggets are also without three of their players, who did not travel to Orlando with their teams.
Right now is a crucial time for the NBA and its hopes of continuing the season.
