NBA agencies are planning to boycott NCAA certification testing

The NCAA’s attempt to approve of NBA agents in an attempt to collect fees and control the flow of players was already under fire after their inclusion and then sudden removal of a bachelor’s degree requirement for agents as well as the requirement of an exam. But now, it appears they have a defiant collective of agents on their hands who don’t want to kiss the ring of the NCAA, degrees or not.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Thursday night that agencies of all sizes are planning to boycott the NCAA’s planned test to certify agents to represent college players.

So after public backlash to the “Rich Paul Rule” and taking down the bachelor’s degree requirement only a few hours after Rich Paul wrote an op-ed criticizing it, NBA agents at large aren’t going to participate in the NCAA’s preferred method of certification.

With the basketball world being much bigger than just the NCAA, and the billions of dollars involved outside of it, it’s not surprising that they were unable to flex their muscles on a very big group of powerful people.
