The first wave of NBA 2K26 slider sets has begun to roll out, and longtime slider maker EccentricMeat is back with what he calls “The Eccentric Edition.” This Hall of Fame-level set aims to bring balance to some of 2K26‘s early gameplay quirks while keeping the experience as close to real-life NBA basketball as possible.
But what does this slider set entail? Let’s go through the whole thing. And if you’re interested in seeing the original post, check it out on the Operation Sports forums!
Gameplay Settings
Before we get into everything, I find it apropos to point out exactly how EccentricMeat came to his conclusions in the first place. Here were some of his takeaways regarding NBA 2K26‘s gameplay out of the box:
- Drive-and-kick AI has finally been implemented, but it’s currently over-tuned.
- Fast breaks are much smoother, with no more rubber-band slowdowns.
- Fouls and tipped rebounds are too low compared to last year’s stronger balance.
- Shot timing has shifted to a “green or miss” style, with less RNG compared to 2K25’s Shot Timing Profiles.
Now that we’ve shed light on Meat’s first impressions, here are the general gameplay settings that he recommends:
- Difficulty: Hall of Fame
- Game Speed: 48
Coach Settings
- Adaptive Coaching Engine: Off (Offense & Defense)
- Timeout/Minutes/Subs: Auto
- Substitution Method: ACE
- PlayVision: All Plays, Display Lite + Full
- Offensive Playcalling: Auto
- Freelance Series: Dynamic, Do Not Repeat
Gameplay Sliders

With the general settings now in place, it’s time to get to the meat of the matter (I’ll be here all week). Here are the sliders that EccentricMeat suggests you use in NBA 2K26 for the most realistic experience.
All values are the same for the User and CPU, except where noted.
Offense
- CPU Shot Timing: 25
- Inside Shot Success: 65
- Close Shot Success: 70
- Mid-Range Shot Success: 75
- 3PT Success: 75
- Layup Success: 65
- Dunk in Traffic Frequency: 60/70 (User/CPU)
- Dunk in Traffic Success: 30
- Contact Shot Success: 45
- Ball Security: 25
- Body-Up Sensitivity: 25
- Pass Speed: 35
To counteract 2K26‘s “green-or-miss” system on Hall of Fame difficulty, shooting sliders have been raised to allow some non-greens to fall. CPU shot timing has been toned down to prevent it from greening everything, but it also benefits from increased shot success.
Defense
- Driving Contact Shot Frequency: 100
- Inside Contact Shot Frequency: 100
- Layup Defense (Takeoff): 70
- Layup Defense (Release): 80
- Jump Shot Defense (Gather): 70
- Jump Shot Defense (Release): 75
- Help Defense Strength: 65
- Steal Success: 55
Attributes
- Agility: 48
- Blocking: 60
- Offensive Awareness: 25
Tendencies
- Take Inside Shots: 80
- Take 3PT Shots: 45
- Post Shots: 60
- Attempt Dunks: 75
- Play Passing Lanes: 75
- Go for On-Ball Steals: 75
- Contest Shots: 75
Fouls
(all at 100 except:)
- Charging: 85
- Blocking: 95
- Reach-In: 70
It is recommended that you adjust foul sliders depending on whether you want the CPU or the User getting more trips to the free-throw line.
What To Expect
With this slider set, the intended outcome is:
- Stronger defensive rotations and contests
- More fouls, turnovers, and blocks
- Shot-making that rewards skill while avoiding an all-or-nothing “green or bust” experience
EccentricMeat emphasizes that these sliders are still in beta and open to community feedback. He encourages players to share what they’re seeing too much or too little of (e.g., AI attacking the basket too often, not enough post play, etc.).
If you’re looking for some kind of metric to measure your experience against, Meat suggests checking out MVPStax’s classic post on what “realistic stats” should look like in a modern NBA sim.
As always, we have included the original post’s feed in the comments so you can easily and regularly view player feedback. Let us know how it works!
