NBA 2K26 might have plenty of gameplay changes and new features since last year, but some things never change: the servers.
It hasn't taken long for the servers to get in a pickle following the start of early access at 11am CT on Aug. 29. Many players report being unable to connect to the servers, and the incidents appear to be worldwide.
Let's look at what you can do to potentially solve the problem.
Potential NBA 2K26 can't connect to server error fix and solutions
The unable to connect to servers error occurs in NBA 2K26 whenever you can't access the official servers but you are unable to do so. Doing so is essential, especially if you want to enjoy the online modes. Sadly, as of writing, the servers seem to be offline for most players. The problem also appears universal across all platforms, worsening the situation.
Here are certain steps you can take to ensure that the problems are not from your end.
- Use a LAN connection if possible, as a WiFi service can be pretty dodgy when accessing a crowded server.
- Make sure no downloads are going on in the background.
- An internet service with "Open" NAT makes accessing multiplayer sessions in any video game easier.
The steps mentioned here are important whenever you can't gain access to the official servers. While you can still enjoy the offline modes, the online part of the content will require the use of internet connectivity since they're all server-sided.
That said, the current issue is purely from 2K's end. This happened last year, too, right after NBA 2K25's early access began. Back then, it took a few hours for 2K to fix the problems. It could also be the same this time, but I hope the problems will be fixed as soon as possible.
