Having trouble meeting all those badge and animation requirements? Perhaps you’re just 1 or 2 attribute points off a Legend-tier badge. If so, don’t redo your whole build; simply add a few Cap Breakers. NBA 2K26 has introduced Cap Breakers, and we know the type of lifesavers they are. Allowing you to add stat points after reaching your max attribute potential, you can funnel those extra points into something else.
However, they’re not all that easy to get, and do come with a few restrictions. Today, we’ll be talking about what this highly sought-after item is in NBA 2K26, how to get it, and what restrictions surround its usage.
What Are Cap Breakers?

Cap Breakers are enhancements you can use on attributes that have reached their max attribute caps. They will always increase your stats by a minimum of +1, but can also skyrocket some attributes, depending on where they are. To put it simply, the lower an attribute is initially, the higher the increase you’ll see after using a Cap Breaker.
Not a lot of people are using this strategy for now since they’re more focused on getting those prime badges. However, if you want a completely balanced build, chances are you’re better off using Cap Breakers on lower-rated attributes. Use them wisely, and they can be game-changers for your MyPLAYER progression.
How Do I Get Cap Breakers?
There are a number of ways to receive Cap Breakers in NBA 2K26’s MyPLAYER mode. Here’s a comprehensive list to help you out:

What Are The Restrictions On Cap Breaker Use?
Cap Breakers aren’t a one-stop solution to all your attribute problems. If there were no balancing restrictions, players would make completely broken builds, hurting the gameplay. To keep a level playing field, here are the rules around using Cap Breakers:
- A Cap Breaker can be applied to each attribute a maximum of 5 times
- You can use a Cap Breaker on an attribute up to its max potential rating allowed by your build’s height, weight, and wingspan
- You must progress an attribute category to its max potential rating before applying a Cap Breaker.
- When a Cap Breaker is applied to an attribute, it is permanent for that save.
