I’ve simulated a number of seasons using NBA 2K21’s mostly fantastic MyLeague feature, and I’m noticing a pretty hilarious bug in each simulation. For some reason, Dylan Windler keeps winning Rookie of the Year.
The thing is, 2K isn’t even predicting Windler will have some surprise breakout performance. He’s literally winning the award averaging less than a point per game, and with other beyond-modest statistics.
You can see what I mean in this simulation video below. The theme was a 2K experiment designed to examine what would happen if Milwaukke Bucks superstar and now two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo was surrounded with three-point shooters.
It was pretty funny for me, but it’s probably not going to tickle someone who’s playing a serious MyLeague and who wants to have realistic stats and awards in their experience.
Admittedly, this is a pretty niche-area of the game, but it’s still a bug I’m hoping 2K corrects in an upcoming patch. Needless to say, myself and other next-gen gamers are hoping these kinds of bugs don’t make their way to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
