Dallas Mavericks rookie guard Luka Doncic will have a 79 overall rating in NBA 2K19 when the game releases in September. He is the first of this year’s rookie class to have his rating revealed.
Doncic was selected third overall by the Atlanta Hawks, but acquired by the Mavericks in a draft day trade for fellow rookie Trae Young. Doncic was easily the top-rated international prospect coming into this year’s rookie crop, and he was in the conversation for the top selection in the draft.

We don’t know Doncic’s ratings allocation across each category, but it stands to reason he has favorable marks as a shooter, ball-handler, and passer. Doncic’s 79 overall rating is two points higher than the mark last year’s No. 3 pick, Jayson Tatum received.
Tatum, who wound up being one of the finalists for Rookie of the Year, was rated a 77 to start the season. The Mavericks are hoping Doncic develops the way Tatum did last year. Seeing Doncic at a 79 makes you wonder where the two guys that were taken ahead of him, DeAndre Ayton and Marvin Bagley III, will be rated.
As far as the render is concerned, it’s an excellent recreation of the 19-year-old Slovenian.

Obviously, R4zor and others weren’t privy to the stats and analytics 2K developers and ratings staff had when determining Doncic’s season-opening marks. For that level of authenticity, you’d have to get the real version. NBA 2K19 releases for PS4, XB1, PC and the Nintendo Switch on September 11.
