A 27-year-old Chicago man was killed in a crash that shut down inbound I-57 for several hours Monday morning in the south suburbs.

The man’s Chevy Malibu rear-ended a semi about 3:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-57 near 147th Street in Posen, according to Illinois State Police.

The driver of the Malibu was pronounced dead, state police said. The 46-year-old driver of the semi was not hurt.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the fatality.

All northbound lanes of I-57 were closed near the scene of the crash until 8 a.m., state police said.
