Naya Rivera voices Catwoman in posthumous role for Batman animated film

Naya Rivera will have a posthumous voice part in an upcoming Batman animated film.

The Glee actor, who died in July 2020 aged 33 as the result of an accidental drowning, had completed voice work as Catwoman/Selina Kyle in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One, The Hollywood Reporter announced on Wednesday.

The film is the first instalment in a planned two-part adaptation of The Long Halloween, a comic book series which inspired Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, especially the 2008 classic The Dark Knight.

Supernatural starJensen Ackles will voice Batman/Bruce Wayne, a role he previously held in the 2010 animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Josh Duhamel was cast as Harvey Dent. Billy Burke, Titus Welliver, David Dastmalchian, Troy Baker, and Amy Landecker are all featured too.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One is expected to be released over the spring or summer.

The cast of Glee will reunite on 8 April for a tribute to Rivera and her character in the series, Santana Lopez. Demi Lovato will introduce the actors during the event, which will form part of the GLAAD Media Awards.

Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Amber Riley, Jenna Ushkowitz, Harry Shum Jr, and more are scheduled to take part.
