Naya Rivera’s final TV appearance on The Eric Andre Show draws emotional reactions from fans

Fans have posted their emotional reactions after the late actor Naya Rivera’s final TV appearance was broadcast in the US last night (10 November).

The Glee star drowned in July at the age of 33, having gone swimming with her four-year-old son Josey, in a reservoir in Ventura County, California. Her son was found alive and unharmed.

Rivera’s final TV appearance was a guest spot on the surrealist Adult Swim comedy The Eric Andre Show, in which she featured as herself.

Eric Andre, who created and stars in the series, had announced Rivera’s appearance last week, writing on Twitter: “One of this Sunday's two episodes features the late Naya Rivera, who we really enjoyed having on our show.

“She was truly a good sport and we had a blast together. It broke our hearts to hear of her passing in July. RIP Naya.”

In the episode, Andre and guest sidekick Lakeith Stanfield interview Rivera, and ask her about her time on Glee.

Rivera laughs along as Andre proceeds with his off-beat, often incomprehensible interview style, and reacts in shock and horrified amusement when Andre brings out a jar of brown “Moth juice” to drink.

On YouTube and social media, fans of Rivera shared their emotional reactions to the episode.

“I couldn’t help but smile and tear up at the same time,” wrote one viewer.

“Naya’s appearance on the show was so short but I’m so glad we got to see her smiling and happy again,” wrote another.

Someone else wrote: “Seeing Naya Rivera on The Eric Andre Show tonight was so sad but also so heartwarming. It was really nice to see her smiling and laughing, but so heartbreaking knowing she’s gone. Miss you Naya.”
