Naya Rivera 's dad George warned his daughter about swimming in the lake hours before her death.
On a heart-wrenching final FaceTime, the dad and daughter spoke for the last time while she was on a rented boat with her son Josey hours before her death.
Nearly a year has passed since the Glee actress vanished without a trace and her son Josey, four, was found asleep on a rented boat on Lake Piru, outside of Los Angeles, in July last year.
It wasn't until six days later the star's body was found and it later come to light she had died of accidental drowning.
In the hours before her death, the dad of the actress warned his late daughter Naya not to get out of the boat to swim.
George voiced his concerns when he found out the boat didn't have an anchor because he said the boat would float away.
In a new interview, he gave the harrowing details of how the tragedy unfolded last year.
He told PEOPLE : "I could see that the wind was blowing and my stomach was just cringing.
"I kept telling her, 'Don't get out of the boat! Don't get out of the boat! It will drift away when you're in the water.'"
After just three minutes, the FaceTime call to his daughter cut out.
"It was just heartbreaking," he told a magazine. "I had this bad feeling that was just killing me."
Devastated dad George said he doesn't think he will ever find closure and he misses her every day.
It comes after Naya's ex Ryan Dorsey paid tribute to the late actress on Mother's Day.
He wrote: "We can’t say the word happy but we’ll say thank you for being a mother & giving me this sweet amazing boy."
Ryan and Naya were married from 2014 until 2018.
It's understood Ryan has been keeping the memory of Naya alive while raising their son Josey at home.
