The Navy Pier flyover bridge was reopened Monday following about three weeks of construction.

The construction began Sept. 3 and was meant to connect the first and second segments of the bridge, the Chicago Department of Transportation said.

The bridge now extends all the way to Ohio St. Beach and passes over Grand Avenue and Illinois Street, as well as the Ogden Slip and DuSable Park, CDOT said. It also connects to the sidewalk on the lower level of Lake Shore Drive.

Work will continue on two more segments of the bridge, including construction that will widen the trail on the existing Lake Shore Drive Bridge to eliminate bottlenecking, CDOT said.
