Navy hunts WWII bombs

Navy officers expect to spend seven days surveying World War II explosive materials in parts of the Mae Klong River in Ratchaburi to clear the way for a plan to build a double-track rail line in the province.

They began the mission near the Chulalongkorn and Thanarat bridges in Muang district on Wednesday and expect to complete it next Tuesday.

The new double-track rail route will pass through the province. It is part of a construction plan to link Nakhon Pathom and Prachuap Khiri Kan's Hua Hin district.

The naval officers want to first locate exactly where the bombs are before discussing how to destroy them.
