Navi Mumbai: Senior citizen duped of Rs 33 lakh online in insurance fraud

NAVI MUMBAI: Nerul police on Thursday booked three cyber fraudsters for duping a 60-year-old man of Rs 33.25 lakh by posing as insurance company representatives. Accused Ankit Sharma, Jayesh Sharma and Divya have been booked under section 66(c) and 66(d) of IT Act.

The trio assured him to quickly transfer his insurance policy maturity sum of Rs 7.5 lakh to his bank account, if he paid Rs 3 lakh in two installments and that he will gain additional bonus. They however, made him transfer the money multiple times as charges for submitting maturity claim form, NOC, auditor fees, acknowledgement form, etc.
